Mark "The Hammer" Coleman


Mark Coleman was born on decemeber 20, 1964 in Freemont, Ohio. At the age of 15 Mark began to freestyle wrestle, his natural skill mixed with his hard work ethic was good combination for him to excel in wrestling. These attributes enabled Mark to become more advanced and would allow him to move onto bigger tournaments and better schools. In his senior year Mark transferred to Ohio State University and won a NCAA championship in his first time fighting for the school. All of this publicity of the titles he had been winning allowed him to be noticed by the American wrestling team and placed 7th overall in the Barcelona Summer games held in 1992.

Coleman's rookie debut was in UFC10 were he beat the defending camp Dan Fyre and then would go on to win UFC11 against his co "Hall of Famer" Dan Severn to become the Heavy Weight Champion. Mark would then take the opportunity to compete in UFC 14 against a kick box style of fighter which would bring Mark all the way to decision and take over the title. Coleman would lose again in UFC17 and UFC18, he knew he had to take time off and correct his fighting style. He went to fight in the PRIDE league and re established his confidence and honed his fighting skills before he made his return to the UFC. Mark returned to fight in UFC 82 in which he was inducted to the Hall of Fame.
